During the finissage performance at The Whispering Hole exhibition, the audience, through the artist, will have the opportunity to experience sensual hot wax in its liquid form.

Beeswax is Gideon Horváth's main sculptural material. In the artist's interpretation, it represents vulnerability as it is both extremely fragile and highly resistant. It is also a material that is a unique representation of corporeality. Because of its softness and warm color, beeswax resembles human flesh, although it comes from a different animal. It is, in the artist's words, a “visceral” material, because it is formed in the lower abdomen of the bee. Very intimate and sensual. In the wax-based creative process, a unique connection is created between the artist and the creatures from which the material comes. According to Horváth, the wax itself is a kind of portrait of this “visceral” quality that arises in the bee's body. This access to inner corporeality seems to point to Horváth's desired state of physical and emotional exposure, representing a form of emancipation other than the traditionally understood heroism. The fluidity, mutability and “constant becoming” of wax are other characteristics that lead the artist to call it a queer material.

During the exhibition's closing performance, Gideon Horváth will create the conditions for the audience to sensually experience the characteristics of this unique sculptural material.
